Club Membership

Origins

LIC' s agents form the mainstay of the LIC juggernaut. To be able to discharge their duties effectively towards the policyholders and clients, they have to be trained professionally and equipped with sufficient skills and knowledge. This, in turn will motivate them to aim for higher levels of productivity and maintain consistency in their business.

With these aims in perspective, an institution of clubs at four levels - Branch Manager's Club, Divisional Manager's Club, Zonal Manager's Club and Chairman's Club - was brought into existence with the commencement of the financial year back in 1971. This can be considered as a landmark in enhancing the status of the profession of insurance salesman within the Indian sub-continent.

Objectives

The Clubs follow their objectives by

  • Ensuring stability for the agents

  • Projecting the agent as the central figure between the LIC and its clients by virtue of its sales and services

  • Acknowledging the agent's contributions and providing him with a sense of satisfaction by instilling a sense of pride within himself and the organisation as well

  • Fostering a professional approach amidst the agents

Why should you become a club member?

A Club membership is the ultimate status symbol for any insurance agent since it distinguishes him from other agents owing to the honour and prestige associated with it. It is the recognition of an agent's regular and consistent performance.

It serves as a testimony to his professional competence. Being recognised and felicitated for his achievements is important for each agent since the acknowledgement comes after years of hard work and has to be maintained well in the years that follow.

In case you are not a club member yet, you must strive to become a member at the earliest. Since consistency in business over a period of time is a pre-requisite for attaining club membership, you must work out a plan to achieve it. In case you are already a member of a club at a certain level then it is vital that you progress to the next level. Progressing from one level to the next is a sign of your rise in your profession.

Since this requires consistent productivity at a specified level - both in terms of sum assured, number of lives insured and/or premium income - the progression has to be systematically planned and achieved. It also has to be supplemented by conserving and maintaining the business booked, which in turn can be achieved by establishing a reputation for service for the clients. Even the slightest delay on your part could translate into postponement by a year or two.
