GIC’s notice to subsidiaries backfires

30/October/2001

General Insurance Corporation’s (GIC) announcement that it plans to expand its operations in the overseas market through franchises has seen employees of its four subsidiary companies making a beeline to join it. The attraction is also because there exists a major 7 year difference in the promotions policy of the four subsidiaries and the GIC. The reinsurer had sent a notice to its employees in the four subsidiaries if they desired to return as also to its officers working on deputation but the matter was taken to be a recruitment drive.
